Footballers all over the world have been showing their support for the #EndSARS campaign. These footballers include Nigerian footballers and footballers from other countries. Prominent among them are Asisat Oshoala, Marcus Rashford and Mesut Ozil. Nigeria is a sport loving country with lots of talented footballers. Officers of the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) are known to be brutal and kill Nigerians without facing justice. A footballer killed by SARS officers in 2020 is Tiamiyu Kazeem popularly known as Kaka, who was the vice-captain of Ogun State Remo Stars, a club in the Nigerian second division.

1. Asisat Oshoala

Asisat Lamina Oshoala MON is a female Nigerian professional footballer that plays for Spanish side FC Barcelona Femení in the Primera División as a forward. She was named best player and was the highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She has been a strong supported of the #EndSARS campaign and has been calling on the government to listen to Nigerians.

2. Ahmed Musa

Ahmed Musa is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward and left winger for Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr and the Nigeria Super Eagles. He is the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match. He is also the captain of the Nigeria Super Eagles and one of the many Nigerian footballers to talk against police brutality of SARS.

3. Wilfred Ndidi

Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Leicester City and the Nigeria national team as a defensive midfielder. He is known for his defensive prowess and long-range strikes. Ndidi mentioned on his Twitter account that Nigerians abroad are scared of coming home because the people meant to protect Nigerians are killing Nigerians. 2. Rashford

Manchester United Marcus Rashford has also added his voice to the protest in Nigeria fighting against the brutality of the police. He is one of the few international footballers who have shown support for the EndSARS campaign. Rashford also plays for the England National Team nicked three lions.

3. Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rüdiger is a German professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Premier League club Chelsea and the Germany national team. He began his career at VfB Stuttgart, representing their reserves in 3. Liga and the first team in the Bundesliga. He is one of Chelsea players to speak against police brutality in Nigeria. He wrote on social media that Police brutality in Nigeria needs attention and that it is so sad to know that it is happening in Nigeria and it must end. Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola “Fikayo” Tomori a professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Premier League club Chelsea and the England national team has also called for the end to police brutality in Nigeria. The England player born to Nigerian parents supported the #EndSARS movement by posting #EndSars #EndPoliceBrutality alongside a Nigerian flag emoji and a broken heart emoji on his social media. He picked to play for England’s three lions over Nigeria and Canada.

5. Fatau Dauda

Abdul Fatawu Dauda, known as Fatau Dauda, is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Legon Cities FC. He has also supported the end to police brutality in neighbouring Nigeria.

The former African player of the year has also supported the end to police brutality in Nigeria.
