Joeboy real name is ⭐️Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa⭐️. The young and talented artist is from the Yoruba tribe in the South West region of Nigeria. He was born in Lagos on the 21st May 1997 in Lagos State, Nigeria. Joeboy is the last of four kids. He was raised in the city of Lagos. Joeboy celebrated his 23 birthday on the 21st of May, 2020.

The R&B and Afro-pop artist studied Human Resource Management at the University of Lagos (UNLAG) where he got his Bachelor Degree He was nicknamed Joeboy by his classmates in secondary school.

Joeboy Career

The singer and songwriter began his musical career at the age of 16. He got his musical inspiration from popular musical artists like 9ice, and ID Cabasa, whom he used to hang out with at the studio. His first recorded song Gbeseyin, an Afrobeat tune, was released a year after at the age of 17.

The release of the cover version of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You on Instagram in 2017 saw a large number of people viewing the cover including Nigerians both in Nigeria and abroad. Mr Eazi of emPawa Africa noticed the fantastic vocals of the artist and made him the first artist to receive sponsorship from him under the philanthropic initiative, emPawa Africa. He got a $300,000 grant from Mr. Eazi and used a potion of it to shoot the music video for his single “Fààjí”

With the help of Mr Eazi and emPawa Africa, he was able to record another of his songs Faaji which was accepted by music lovers. Joeboy love song, Baby released in March 2019 reached the top 10 of the Apple Music charts in Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya. Baby garnered over 20 million streams across YouTube and Spotify in 2019 and the visualizer music video for it surpassed 31 million views on YouTube

The afro-pop artist has released about 3 albums which includes How To Make Friends In a Brand New Town, THC (The Herrera Chronicles), Love and Light, Bars and recently Apollo.

The singer who will be 24 by 2021, released his sophomore album, Apollo on August 20, 2020, under the YBNL Nation record label. It contains 17 tracks album and was released after the success of his debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps that was released on November 29, 2019
